Course Overview

This course deals with fundamental introduction of traffic engineering such as human factor design, geometric design and section design, traffic flow theory analysis, capacity analysis, traffic count methods, signalized intersection analysis and introduction of ITS. Also, topics such as highway planning and capacity, design criteria and control cross-sectional elements, sight distances, horizontal and vertical alignments, intersections, and subsurface drainage. In addition, the course investigates components of the traffic system, traffic-stream characteristics, traffic studies, traffic safety and the capacity of urban streets and intersection.

Course Objectives

  • To appreciate the traffic engineering as application of engineering techniques to achieve the safe and efficient movement of people and goods.
  • To understand the relationship between different parts of traffic engineering
